Ayushman card hospital list in Raipur: how to check which hospitals accept it
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) gives eligible families cashless hospital treatment at empanelled public and private hospitals. In Chhattisgarh the scheme is run by the State Health Agency alongside the state's own health assistance scheme. If you live in or near Raipur and hold an Ayushman card, this guide shows how to find out which hospitals in the city accept it for the treatment you need.
What PM-JAY covers, in brief
- Health cover of up to ₹5 lakh per eligible family per year for secondary and tertiary hospital care.
- Cashless and paperless treatment at empanelled hospitals for listed procedures ("health benefit packages").
- Pre-existing conditions are covered from the first day.
- Under the 2024 expansion, citizens aged 70 and above are eligible for cover regardless of income, through a separate Ayushman Vay Vandana card.
Coverage rules, package lists and state add-ons are set by the National Health Authority (NHA) and the state, and they are revised from time to time. Check the official PM-JAY website for the current position.
Step 1: check that you are eligible and have a card
- Visit the official beneficiary portal of the National Health Authority or use the official Ayushman app.
- Search using your mobile number, ration card or Aadhaar details, as the portal asks.
- If you are eligible, you can download or apply for your Ayushman card (e-card) after Aadhaar-based verification. Common Service Centres and empanelled hospitals' help desks can also help.
You can also call the national PM-JAY helpline, 14555, for eligibility questions.
Step 2: search for empanelled hospitals in Raipur
The NHA's official hospital search lets you filter by state, district, hospital type (public or private) and speciality. To use it:
- Open the "Find Hospital" search on the official PM-JAY hospital portal.
- Choose Chhattisgarh as the state and Raipur as the district.
- Pick the speciality you need, for example obstetrics and gynaecology, general medicine or cardiology.
- Note the hospital's name, address and the phone number of the help desk shown in the result.
Many hospitals are empanelled for some specialities but not others. A hospital that accepts the card for a delivery may not accept it for a cardiac procedure. Always search by speciality.
Step 3: call the hospital before a planned admission
For planned treatment, call the hospital's Ayushman or PM-JAY help desk and ask:
- Is the hospital currently empanelled under PM-JAY for this treatment?
- Which documents should I bring?
- Is a referral needed from a government facility for this package?
- Will any part of the treatment fall outside the package, such as certain implants or longer stays?
Every empanelled hospital is expected to have an Ayushman help desk, usually staffed by an Arogya Mitra, who handles verification at admission.
Documents to carry
- Your Ayushman card or e-card.
- Aadhaar card or another government photo ID accepted by the scheme.
- Ration card, if asked for family verification.
- Previous medical reports and prescriptions for the condition.
If you are asked to pay
Treatment covered by a PM-JAY package at an empanelled hospital is meant to be cashless. If you are asked to pay for something you believe is covered:
- Ask the Ayushman help desk for a written explanation.
- Keep every bill and receipt.
- Register a grievance through the official PM-JAY grievance portal or the 14555 helpline.
Pregnancy and delivery under government schemes
Deliveries in government hospitals are already free under Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK), including caesarean sections, medicines, tests and transport. For private hospitals, PM-JAY packages cover many obstetric procedures where the hospital is empanelled for them. If you are expecting, read our guide to high-risk pregnancy for the check-ups you can get free under PMSMA.
Fertility treatment and PM-JAY
Patients often ask whether IVF is covered. Assisted reproduction is generally not part of the standard PM-JAY benefit packages. Check the current package list on the official website, and see our explainer on the ART Act 2021 for how fertility clinics are regulated.
Government hospitals in Raipur
Government hospitals are part of the scheme too, and they remain the first point of care for many families. Treatment at government facilities is already free or low-cost for many services, and government hospitals can refer patients onwards for specialised care. Your nearest primary health centre or community health centre can tell you which government hospital in Raipur to use for your condition.
